Trump Says 'Artificial Intelligence' Users Are White House Enemies
President Donald Trump said on October 8 that anyone who uses the term "artificial intelligence" instead of "super intelligence" will be considered an enemy of the White House.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "For those who use the term 'Artificial Intelligence' rather than the widely recognized, more modern and more accurate word 'Super Intelligence,' the White House considers them — enemies!"
The remark follows an executive order Trump signed in late September after meeting tech leaders, directing federal agencies to use "Super Intelligence" in official communications instead of "Artificial Intelligence" wherever legally possible. The order does not apply to private companies such as OpenAI.
Elon Musk said on X that SpaceX AI would be renamed SpaceXSI, which would mark the second rename of the AI unit in 2026 if carried out. SpaceX acquired xAI, the developer of chatbot Grok, in February 2026 and renamed it SpaceXAI in July 2026. As of October 8 afternoon, the SpaceXAI X account still displayed the name "SpaceXAI."
Other leading AI and tech companies have yet to respond publicly. During the White House AI lunch, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang briefly misspoke and corrected himself, while OpenAI President Greg Brockman said the company is committed to "building artificial intelligence" for everyone.
