ASML to Raise Replacement Part Prices in South Korea by 10% from January 2027

By AI123

ASML, the world's largest semiconductor equipment supplier, has notified Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix of a uniform 10% price increase for replacement parts supplied in South Korea, effective January 2027. The hike covers all components for EUV and DUV lithography systems, including consumables and major parts that may need replacement due to wear or failure.

According to Korean media reports, ASML's headquarters informed the two memory chipmakers through its Korean subsidiary in September 2026, and the plan was finalized after negotiations with their purchasing departments. Unlike previous selective adjustments triggered by raw material price surges or sourcing difficulties, a blanket 10% increase is unusual for ASML.

Semiconductor industry sources said that while component raw material prices have broadly risen, ASML also aims to improve its profit margins as customers remain profitable. In its financial reporting, ASML treats maintenance, upgrades and spare part replacement for installed equipment as a separate business segment, which generated about €8.2 billion in 2025, accounting for 25% of total revenue. The company expects this segment to grow by more than 30% in 2026.

ASML is also planning to raise prices for new lithography equipment. Other suppliers, including Applied Materials and Tokyo Electron, have also begun adjusting prices amid rising demand for semiconductor equipment and parts driven by AI infrastructure expansion.
