Tsinghua Launches Yau Mathematics-AI Alliance and Unveils 10+ Research Achievements

By AI123

On October 11, the Yau Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Alliance was established at Tsinghua University, aiming to deepen the integration of AI and mathematics. The alliance released more than 10 key research achievements and directions in "AI+mathematics," covering problems such as the degenerate Arnold conjecture, boundedness of minimal modifications, and 7-dimensional homotopy spheres, with directions spanning geometry, quantum computing, and life sciences.

According to reports, AI served as an "assistant" in producing these results. In the study of 7-dimensional homotopy spheres, AI was used to help explore proof strategies and simplify calculations, while computer algebra systems were used to verify exact identities, interval bounds, and generate reproducible computation certificates. Mathematicians were responsible for formulating ideas and completing proofs.

AI also provided researchers with inspiration and supported early experimental computations in other scientific problems.
