Siemens invests in Skeleton Technologies in exclusive data center supercapacitor partnership
Siemens announced on Oct. 14 that it has made a strategic investment in Skeleton Technologies and entered an exclusive partnership with the supercapacitor maker. The companies will integrate Skeleton's supercapacitor technology into Siemens' electrical infrastructure portfolio, with Siemens gaining exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the data center market, covering power infrastructure from grid connection to AI racks.
The two companies said the supercapacitors are designed to handle rapid load fluctuations in AI data centers, buffering transient power peaks to help protect equipment and the grid, while supporting higher compute density and reducing the need for upgrades to existing facilities. The solutions can be used in existing AC power architectures and retrofit projects, and provide a path toward future 800V DC standards.
The investment amount was not disclosed.
