Turing Award Winner: AI Won't Replace Researchers

At the Second International Conference on AI Scientists held on October 17, 2021 Turing Award winner Jack Dongarra shared his views on AI's impact on mathematics and other disciplines. He said there is no need to fear AI, as it will not make researchers unemployed but will instead push people forward. Dongarra noted that AI cannot answer every question or do everything, and encouraged attendees to keep studying mathematics and continue their current work.
