Anthropic commits roughly 20% of shares to new public benefit fund
By AI123
Anthropic has announced the creation of the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public good. The fund will initially receive 5% of the company's shares. For each 50% increase in the company's value over a set baseline, Anthropic may contribute up to an additional 2% of shares, subject to board discretion. In total, roughly 20% of Anthropic's shares are committed to public benefit.
The company's co-founders have pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and about half of its employees are donating a portion of their equity through a donation matching program that has run since the company's founding.
