Alibaba DAMO Academy Unveils Automotive-Grade Enhanced E908A Chip, XuanTie Shipments Top 6 Billion
At the 6th RISC-V China Summit held in Shenzhen from October 18 to 20, Meng Jianyi, chief scientist at Alibaba DAMO Academy, revealed that XuanTie chips have shipped more than 6 billion units. DAMO Academy also introduced its first automotive-grade enhanced E908A chip at the summit.
XuanTie is Alibaba DAMO Academy's RISC-V processor IP brand, covering C, E, R and other series. According to the official product lineup, the portfolio now includes four major series: C, R, E and XT-Link. The C series targets high-performance applications and AI-enhanced scenarios, the R series targets high-reliability real-time use cases, the E series targets low-power embedded and intelligent terminals, and the XT-Link series targets coherent multi-core and multi-cluster interconnect.
XuanTie processors surpassed 4 billion cumulative shipments for the first time in 2024 and led the establishment of the “Wujian Alliance.” According to Omida, global RISC-V processor shipments are expected to grow nearly 30% annually through 2030, reaching about 25% of the global processor shipment share by 2030.
The newly unveiled E908A is DAMO Academy's first automotive-grade enhanced chip. Meng Jianyi has long led RISC-V processor work at DAMO Academy and has previously spoken about RISC-V breakthroughs in AI computing at summits. RISC-V is an open, royalty-free instruction set architecture standard initiated in 2010 by researchers at UC Berkeley, with the RISC-V Foundation established in 2015 and now known as RISC-V International.
