By AI123

At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on October 19, 2026, Wei Wei, Director of the Department of Science and Technology at China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), outlined the latest progress of China's humanoid robot industry in consumer and commercial applications.

Wei said that in the first half of 2026, China's humanoid robot complete machine products exceeded 400 models, with output surpassing 40,000 units. The annual output is expected to exceed 100,000 units. He added that the industry has accelerated in scale, innovation capability, and application deployment. Key technologies such as motion control, simulation, and tactile sensing have been advanced, while pilot applications have been deployed in more than 300 key scenarios including warehousing and logistics, catering and retail, and household services.

Regarding next steps, MIIT will focus on tackling key common technologies through "open competition" mechanisms, expanding real-scenario training, and deepening application in industrial, special, and livelihood fields. The ministry will also release the 2026 National Humanoid Robot Industry Standard System Construction Guide, build an open-source community for humanoid robots, and establish an industry monitoring system to strengthen quality, network and data security testing, as well as ethical governance.
