Super Micro Lifts Quarterly Revenue Outlook to $18.5B-$19.5B on Strong AI Server Demand

By AI123

AI server maker Super Micro Computer issued a preliminary results update on October 20, projecting quarterly revenue of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion for the period ending September 30, well above its prior guidance range of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The midpoint of the new range implies year-over-year growth of roughly 279%. The company also guided gross margin to 12%-12.5%, ahead of its previous expectation of 10.4%-10.8%.

Super Micro competes directly with Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise in AI servers. Following the announcement, Dell rose about 6% in after-hours trading and HPE gained roughly 5%, while neocloud companies CoreWeave and Nebius Group each advanced more than 4%. Analysts viewed the preliminary figures as a positive data point for AI compute demand, while noting that questions remain about the mix of orders from large cloud providers versus emerging cloud service providers.

Super Micro is scheduled to report full quarterly results on November 3.
