OpenAI Upgrades Codex for OSS Grants to Pro 200, Expands Round to 10,000

On October 22, 2026, OpenAI announced it is upgrading all Codex for OSS grants to the Pro 200 tier in the current round, increasing the number of grants from 5,000 to 10,000 to reach more maintainers. Recipients who already received a grant will have the upgrade applied automatically, and the company is encouraging previous recipients to reapply.

Codex for OSS is OpenAI's grant program for open-source maintainers and was launched about six months ago. Applications remain open.
