Meta CEO Unveils Plan for a Vast Network of AI Agents

By AI123

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Thursday that the company aims to grow its AI agent service Muse to serve billions of people and create a large-scale network in which agents collaborate with one another.

Speaking on a call, Zuckerberg described the expansion as both the company's mission and its strategy. He said Meta is not planning to charge everyone upfront for Muse in order to encourage broader adoption. The company launched Muse in early September, and executives said more than 10 million people in the U.S. and Canada have set up personal agents since then. Zuckerberg noted that shopping is the most common use case so far.

Zuckerberg also acknowledged that running Muse is compute-intensive and that scaling it to more than a billion users will require significant investment. Meta expects to spend at least $135 billion this year, with most of the spending going toward AI infrastructure.

Separately on the same day, a New Mexico judge ordered Meta to pay $25 billion for misleading consumers about data privacy in connection with the Cambridge Analytica breach. Meta said it will appeal.
