1Password for Agents launches with support for Meta's Muse, OpenAI's Dots and SpaceXAI Grok Bot
1Password has launched 1Password for Agents, a platform that lets AI agents from Meta, OpenAI and other companies use stored credentials to complete tasks without ever seeing usernames, passwords or vault contents. The move follows the company's Claude integration in July.
The platform supports Meta's Muse, OpenAI's Dots, SpaceXAI Grok Bot and other agents. It is designed for tasks such as booking restaurants, buying gifts and planning vacations, which typically require login credentials. 1Password says its login system keeps the credentials invisible to the models.
"An agent should be able to do the job it's been asked to do without getting permanent access to everything behind the account, and 1Password provides the trust layer that makes this possible across personal agent experiences," said chief product officer Aashish Tripathi.
When an agent hits a password check while performing a requested action, it uses a special key to verify its identity with 1Password. The company then notifies the user which agent needs access and why, and fills in the required information upon approval. Access is granted per session, limited to specific approved items and not carried over. Passwords and one-time MFA codes are injected through a secure channel managed by 1Password, keeping them outside the model.
1Password said the platform now works with Muse, Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work, Dots, Grok Bot and Town, giving each agent approved access when needed and letting users approve sign-ins. It added that passwords, usernames and MFA codes remain outside each agent's view.
The company cautioned that users should still be careful when granting agents access, noting that agents could make ordering errors or book the wrong vacation even if they cannot expose password secrets. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
