Anthropic Partners with Hg to Launch European AI Consulting Firm
Anthropic has reached an agreement with private equity firm Hg to establish an independent European consulting company focused on delivering AI expertise to local enterprises. It marks the frontier AI lab's first move to set up a standalone consultancy entity in Europe.
According to people familiar with the matter, the new company will deploy AI consultants and engineers directly into European businesses, including portfolio companies backed by Hg. Engineers will lead design work on new AI products or assist companies in advancing existing AI deployment projects. Anthropic will fund the venture with its own balance-sheet capital, while Hg will invest through its managed funds, including London-listed HgCapital Trust.
The consultancy is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, with hubs in London and Berlin, primarily serving software vendors that focus on enterprise and white-collar clients. Hg currently has a 150-person AI specialist team helping portfolio companies adopt AI, and the new business will not replace that team.
The move puts AI companies in more direct competition with traditional IT consultancies such as Accenture, Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC. Earlier this year, Anthropic launched a similar independent services firm, Ode, in the U.S. with Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman. Rival OpenAI also set up OpenAI Deployment Company in May 2026 with TPG, Advent, Bain Capital and Brookfield. Anthropic is seeking new revenue streams to support its heavy spending on data center infrastructure and build support for its anticipated IPO.
