HKEX launches AI index; XtalPi among first constituents in top ten by weight
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) announced on October 26 the launch of its new artificial intelligence index, with XtalPi Holdings among the first batch of constituents and ranked in the top ten by weight.
The index comprises 40 Hong Kong-listed companies closely tied to the AI industry chain, spanning AI chips, AI infrastructure, AI models and AI applications. In the AI application category, scientific AI applications are explicitly covered, including AI-driven drug discovery and biotechnology research.
Constituents include AI chip makers such as SMIC and Hua Hong Semiconductor, internet firms Tencent and Alibaba, next-generation AI companies like Zhipu and MiniMax, and AI-for-Science companies such as XtalPi. HKEX said stock selection assesses the relevance of AI business to company operations as well as innovation input, requiring at least 30% of revenue from AI-related businesses, along with criteria on listing history, trading activity, R&D spending, capital expenditure, revenue growth and market value.
