Google launches Connected Apps Platform to bring more services into Gemini and Search
Google has introduced the Connected Apps Platform, a new system that lets developers connect their services to Google's AI experiences in Search and the Gemini app.
The platform preview is currently available in beta to developers in the United States. Developers can integrate using a cloud-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server or Android MCP through AppFunctions APIs, then register, test, and submit their apps via the Google Connected Console. They can choose whether their app appears in Search, the Gemini app, or both.
Once live, developers can track traffic, latency, and error rates, and manage brand elements such as verified logos and authenticated accounts.
Google already lists more than 50 connected apps in Gemini, including partners such as Adobe, Experian, Localiza, and Peloton, alongside its own services like Workspace, Photos, YouTube Music, and Google Home. These apps will roll out to Google Search over the coming weeks. Search currently has fewer integrations, including Instacart, Canva, YouTube Music, and Yahoo Fantasy Football. Meditation app Calm is also joining the effort and will soon be available on both Gemini and Search.
The Connected Apps Platform is in public preview for U.S. developers who join the waitlist. Google has not shared a timeline for broader availability.
