The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology team led by She Dongdong released RedHerring, an AI security defense technique that plants decoy vulnerabilities in code to consume AI hackers' verification time and reduce the discovery of real vulnerabilities. The paper shows verification accounts for 73.8% of AI hackers' total time, with verification cost about 11.1 times that of proposing a hypothesis.
