Anthropic has replaced Git with a self-developed version control system called Scion after Claude's coding speed made Git a bottleneck. A seven-person team built Scion from scratch in five months using Claude and migrated the company's large repository to it. Scion supports virtualized checkout and on-demand folder fetching, removing local packing and global locks to better serve always-on AI agents.
