ByteDance to Launch ADrive Smart Cloud Drive for AI Agents in September 2026
ByteDance is set to release ADrive, a new standalone intelligent cloud drive product, in September 2026, according to Chinese tech outlet Dujia. Built by its cloud arm Volcano Engine, ADrive carries the slogan “Connect your AI apps, keep files and outputs continuously available.” The enterprise-grade product is designed for collaboration between AI agents and human users, with a focus on unified file storage and team collaboration. Trial applications are now open.
ADrive covers file upload/download, instant upload, resumable transfer, multi-format online preview and multi-user collaborative editing. It also offers natural language search across workspaces, image-based search, and AI-assisted document processing such as summarization, rewriting, translation, multi-document Q&A, PDF/Word conversion and OCR. For security, it supports password-protected and time-limited sharing, intranet/extranet access controls, and operation logs.
The product is built around collaborative office work, transfer performance, data security and intelligent processing. It can map working directories of mainstream AI agents such as OpenClaw and Trae to the cloud, helping preserve and reuse AI-generated data. Tencent Cloud started developing its new Tencent Cloud Drive in June 2026, positioning it as a next-generation online storage platform. With ByteDance and Tencent both entering the space, the cloud drive market is shifting from capacity competition to AI-powered collaboration.
