Google launches Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking models

On September 16, 2026, Google announced two new live dialogue models, Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, now available for developers in AI Studio and through the Gemini API.

Gemini 3.8 Live is built for scale and cost efficiency, combining conversational intelligence with fluid dialogue and visual grounding. Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking targets high-complexity tasks with increased intelligence and multi-step reasoning. Both audio models expand Google's Gemini family of live dialogue offerings.
