OpenAI Doubles Codex for OSS Grants to 10,000 Maintainers

On September 16, 2026, Charlie Marsh announced the renewal of OpenAI's Codex for OSS program. The program provides maintainers with $100 Codex Pro plans and doubles the number of grants from 5,000 to 10,000 to reach more maintainers.

Launched six months ago, Codex for OSS is OpenAI's support initiative for open-source maintainers, offering access to the AI coding tool Codex. Existing grant recipients are encouraged to re-apply for the renewed program.
