ThreatBook Acquires Open-Source AI Penetration Testing Tool CyberStrikeAI

By AI123

On September 16, 2026, ThreatBook announced it has completed the acquisition of CyberStrikeAI, an open-source AI-powered penetration testing tool. The tool will be integrated into ThreatBook's AI penetration and red-team capability system, serving as an AI-powered autonomous penetration testing tool for enterprise defense scenarios.

CyberStrikeAI is an open-source AI-native autonomous penetration testing tool. Since its launch a few months ago, it has accumulated more than 6,600 stars on GitHub and over 2,300 public internet deployments, making it one of the most widely used AI penetration testing tools in the world.

After the acquisition, ThreatBook will maintain the open-source version of CyberStrikeAI and launch an enterprise edition designed for enterprise defense scenarios. The company also said it will add more control mechanisms to the open-source version to prevent misuse of the technology.

ThreatBook founder and CEO Xue Feng said the evolution of AI-driven attacks is faster than expected, and the response time window defenders relied on is being narrowed by automated reconnaissance, discovery and exploitation. ThreatBook technical partner Zhao Linlin added that an always-on AI hacker could give enterprises continuous penetration and red-team capabilities at lower cost. ThreatBook said it will continue investing in both the open-source and enterprise versions.
