AWS Data Centers in Persian Gulf Still Unable to Restore Data After Wartime Damage

By AI123

Amazon Web Services (AWS) said in its latest status update that some data centers in the Persian Gulf region remain unable to restore data access following damage sustained during the U.S.-Iran war.

Data stored only in AWS data centers in Bahrain and in certain network areas of the United Arab Emirates is still inaccessible, according to the company. Two AWS data centers in Bahrain were hit early in the conflict, with damage exceeding their design tolerance.

AWS said most customers have resumed operations through backups or by migrating to data centers in other countries. However, one availability zone in the UAE still has inaccessible data, and engineering teams are repairing resources in two other availability zones. The company expects to provide a further update on the recovery of Bahrain facilities in early 2027.
