Snap officially launches its $2,195 AR glasses, the Specs
Snap officially launched its $2,195 AR glasses, the Specs, at an event in Los Angeles on September 16, 2026. CEO Evan Spiegel positioned the device as a "wearable computer" during his keynote, distinguishing it from the AI glasses offered by competitors, and highlighted hardware and performance upgrades made over the past few years.
Specs was first revealed earlier this year at the Augmented World Expo. Snap has presented one of the most ambitious visions for standalone AR glasses to date, though the device's bulky design has drawn mixed reactions. Spiegel said the glasses are meant to accompany users through their day and could reduce reliance on their phones.
Details such as real-world usage comfort, third-party app support, and how AI fits in remained to be detailed at the event. Snap provided a dedicated livestream, with the keynote starting at 4PM PT on September 16.
