Google Tests Gemini 4 Pro Under Alias 'gemini-3.8-flash' on Benchmark Platforms

Google is reportedly testing its upcoming flagship model, Gemini 4 Pro, under the alias "gemini-3.8-flash" on benchmark platforms such as Arena, according to social media user @LuminaBench and other netizens. The model's internal codename is said to be Argon.

Screenshots shared by testers show that the model produced a notably good result when generating a classic SVG image of a pelican riding a bicycle. In a comparison with OpenAI's top model, GPT-6 Astra Pro, the tester expressed the view that Gemini 4 Pro's capabilities could improve further after its official release by Google.
