Petivity launches AI smart feeder that tracks up to five cats' eating habits
Petivity, a pet-tech brand owned by Purina, introduced a new smart feeder designed specifically for cats in September 2026. Built with cameras and AI facial recognition, the device can learn the unique feeding behaviors of up to five cats, tracking portion sizes, eating frequency and patterns. The company says this can turn everyday feeding into useful health insights, helping owners spot subtle shifts in behavior before a vet visit.
The feeder also works as a standard connected pet feeder, allowing users to dispense kibble remotely, create custom schedules, check on their cats via video calls, and receive alerts when food is running low. Many parts are dishwasher-safe.
Petivity says the AI model was trained on 21,000 real-world feeding sessions, 1,400 hours of video and more than 15,000 pictures of cats. During product testing, 99.5 percent of cats were happy to eat from the feeder.
The Petivity Smart Feeder for Cats is available now for $150, with no subscription required for the AI tracking features. It only supports dry food, not wet food.
