Fireflies.ai brings Fireflies Talk dictation to its desktop apps

By AI123

Fireflies.ai has launched Fireflies Talk, a dictation feature for its Mac and Windows desktop applications. Users can press the Fn key on Mac or Ctrl+Win on Windows to start speaking in any open app, and Fireflies records the voice and transcribes it neatly into the app's text field.

Fireflies.ai, known for its footing in AI meeting note-taking, is now expanding into dictation with this feature. Fireflies Talk works similarly to other dictation tools such as Wispr Flow, Willow and SuperWhisper, and is available across apps on the desktop.

CEO Krish Ramineni said people speak roughly three times faster than they type, making voice a more natural way to get work done. He described meetings as just the starting point, with a broader vision of an AI teammate supporting work throughout the day, extending Fireflies to email, Slack, docs, prompts and other workflows.

The dictation feature is bundled into existing subscription plans rather than offered as a separate paid product. Fireflies said it does not keep any recordings, and dictation transcripts are stored locally.

The company is working toward automating workflows based on meeting transcriptions and user context, and plans to build an assistant that taps into that context. In 2025, Fireflies introduced mini-apps for extracting insights from meetings, and in August 2026 it launched a feature for managing inboxes and drafting emails.
