Wabi pivots to AI messaging with on-demand interface generation

By AI123

Wabi, an AI startup originally known for letting users build apps from prompts, has announced a shift to an AI messenger experience with the launch of Wabi 2.0. The new version is positioned as a personal agent that generates interfaces on demand, allowing users to move beyond text-only chats and interact with dynamically created screens for tasks like calorie tracking, workout logs, or family scheduling.

Founder Eugenia Kuyda said the move combines conversation with productivity tasks to address growing demand for AI agents. She argued that chat-only agents become harder to use over time, as histories and ongoing tasks get buried in endless scrolling. Users, she said, want agents that can act but also want software they can see, tap, and navigate.

Unlike the original Wabi, which focused on prompt-based app creation, Wabi 2.0 aims to compete more directly with AI agents that blend conversational interaction and productivity tools in a single interface. Kuyda described the vision as bringing together an agent, its apps, and the user's network in one place.

Wabi 2.0 is currently available by invite code only, with codes being distributed via X.
