Robinhood Launches Trading Agent Tool That Monitors Markets and Executes Trades

By AI123

Robinhood introduced Robinhood Agents, an in-app AI assistant, at its annual event at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston on September 29, 2026. The tool can answer market questions, help build custom investment strategies, and automatically monitor markets and execute trades while users are away from their screens.

CEO Vlad Tenev said the agent-based trading tools are designed to bring advanced trading capabilities previously associated with hedge funds and institutional Wall Street desks to individual investors. Users can instruct the agent to watch markets and place trades, including recurring strategies based on preset conditions. Trade-by-trade confirmation is enabled by default, though users can turn it off; the agent can only use funds moved into a separate agent account, and users are responsible for all trades executed by the agent.

Initial versions will use large language models developed by Anthropic and OpenAI. Robinhood will charge users model usage fees through its platform, and one OpenAI model, named Luna, will be free for the rest of 2026. The company did not disclose whether it has revenue-sharing agreements with the AI providers, nor has it compared investment performance between agent-account users and those using other non-automated strategies.

The company also said it will launch cryptocurrency perpetual futures, earnings-linked options, and weekend stock trading. In May 2026, Robinhood began allowing users to connect external AI agents to its trading infrastructure, and the company said roughly 150,000 users have opened agent trading accounts since then. The latest update integrates the experience directly into the Robinhood app to lower the barrier to entry.
