Meta Launches Open-Source Muse Gadgets Project for Custom AI Agent Hardware
On October 3, 2026, Meta announced the launch of Muse Gadgets, an open-source project that opens up hardware development for its Muse personal AI agent. Developers can run Muse firmware on ESP32 boards or use a Linux SDK to connect more capable edge devices such as the Raspberry Pi 5, enabling them to build custom peripherals for Muse.
Meta also introduced an official device, Muse Home Link. The USB-C powered device connects Muse to home networks and lets it communicate with TVs, speakers, and other devices that support HTTPS interfaces. According to Meta, an initial production batch of 5,000 Home Link units is expected to ship within weeks, and the devices will be given free to eligible Muse subscribers while stock lasts.
DIY form factors suggested by the company include color e-ink displays for low-power reminders, HDMI display sticks, and touch-based wearable pendants. Developers can register at gadgets.muse.ai to obtain an API token, use AI coding agents to generate driver code, and then flash the firmware or run the SDK to establish two-way connections with Muse.
