Tesla Rolls Out FSD v14 Lite to Intel-Based HW3 Model S/X

On Oct. 15, 2026, Tesla's official X account Tesla Super Intelligence announced that FSD v14 Lite is now rolling out to HW3 Model S and Model X vehicles equipped with Intel chips. The update, identified as FSD (Supervised) v14.3 Lite with software package 2026.38.5.1, marks the first distilled FSD branch for these older vehicles.

FSD v14 Lite is a distilled version of the FSD v14 main program, designed to fit the limited memory of the HW3 onboard computer. According to the release notes, Tesla transferred intelligent capabilities from HW4 V14 to the HW3 platform, including improvements based on reinforcement learning. The update refines ramp merging, pedestrian detection, traffic light handling and cut-in response, with fewer false slowdowns and smoother steering. Tesla owner Leonard Campagna has already installed and tested the update on two Model X vehicles.

The release includes speed profiles and an FSD continuous no-intervention mileage counter, but lacks options such as arrival options, starting FSD from parked state, automatic reverse and true Smart Summon. By contrast, Intel-based HW3 Model 3 and Model Y received these functions in v14.3 Lite. The Intel Model S/X also do not support the Halloween mode included in the FSD branch.

FSD v14 Lite debuted in early summer 2026, initially only for Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla confirmed in early September that Model S and Model X would be supported, with AMD-equipped HW3 vehicles starting to receive the update in late September. The v14.3 Lite rollout began in early October 2026 and has now reached Intel Atom-equipped vehicles. Tesla has confirmed that HW3 cannot support unsupervised FSD or the upcoming FSD v15, making v14 Lite the last major FSD branch for the HW3 platform. Owners who purchased FSD can choose a hardware upgrade to a more powerful AI chip.
