NVIDIA Says DLSS 5 Coming to Chinese Game Where Winds Meet in Late November
NVIDIA announced on October 14 that DLSS 5, its AI-driven deep learning super sampling technology, will arrive in the Chinese-developed game Where Winds Meet in late November. New demonstration videos and comparison images show notable improvements in the game's scene lighting and material detail, while changes to character appearance remain relatively subtle.
The company also detailed progress on the new 3D-guided neural rendering model behind DLSS 5. Compared with the September build, the updated model delivers twice the performance while reducing model size by 24 percent to about 118 million parameters and cutting 4K VRAM usage by 20 percent. The neural rendering stage's GPU cost is halved versus the September version, and the model now runs about 10 times faster than at its initial reveal in March. As an example, NVIDIA said a GeForce RTX 5080 at 4K resolution can boost frame rates in NBA 2K27 from around 240 fps to roughly 300 fps. The update rolls out on October 16, with support for RTX 50-series GPUs and RTX Spark laptops.
DLSS 5 is also set to launch in Hogwarts Legacy on November 5. In addition, NVIDIA announced that RTX Remix is gaining DLSS 5, giving modders more tools to remaster classic games. In a test mod for Fallout 4, enabling DLSS 5 produced richer reflections, lighting response, and fabric detail on soldiers' helmets and clothing.
