DeepSeek prices Search and Fetch APIs at $0.75 per 1,000 successful calls

DeepSeek on Oct 19, 2026 announced pricing for its Search and Fetch APIs. The two interfaces, powered by DeepSeek's self-developed search engine, will be billed at $0.75 (5 yuan) for every 1,000 successful requests, with charges beginning on Nov 1, 2026. Failed requests, queries with no results, and timeouts will not be billed.

The Search API performs web searches and returns structured results, while the Fetch API retrieves a single page and returns its title and body in Markdown. Both APIs share DeepSeek's main API Bearer authentication and are rate-limited to five requests per second. They were previously used for free in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, and Codex, where models already call the interfaces through server-side tools when they need web access.

At $0.75 per 1,000 successful calls, the price is roughly one-tenth of Tavily's pay-as-you-go rate of about $8 per 1,000 calls, and below comparable offerings such as Brave Search and Google Custom Search, which are around $5 per 1,000 calls, as well as Serper's roughly $1 rate. DeepSeek also becomes one of the few major Chinese model vendors to open its own search engine as a standalone API.
