Siemens and Nvidia Partner on AI Factory Solutions at Erlangen Plant

By AI123

Siemens and Nvidia have partnered to develop a new batch of AI factory solutions at Siemens' plant in Erlangen, Germany, potentially reducing engineering workload in production preparation by up to 85% and cutting AI-driven production planning costs by up to 20%.

The partnership was announced on October 19 during the "Invest in Germany" summit in Berlin. It is part of Nvidia's broader European investment plan of nearly $10 billion. At the summit, Nvidia signed a memorandum of intent with the German Ministry of Economics and announced investments in four German startups: Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo, and Reflex Aerospace, covering robotics, medical AI, generative video AI, and satellite manufacturing. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI is a "new tool" that enhances rather than replaces human expertise.

Separately, the "Made for Germany" initiative launched by Siemens and Deutsche Bank predicted potential investment of up to €4.1 trillion in Germany's AI, energy, and defense sectors by 2035. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called on SMEs to open their data to AI, saying Germany aims to become a global leader in AI industrial applications.
