Chery Unveils Natively Integrated Robotaxi, Targets 100,000 Vehicles Globally by 2030
On October 20, 2026, Chery unveiled a natively integrated Robotaxi for the global market at its 2026 Global Innovation Conference, setting a goal of operating 100,000 vehicles worldwide by 2030.
The company said the natively integrated approach means autonomous driving requirements are considered from the product design stage, covering vehicle architecture, safety redundancy, passenger experience and operating systems, unlike retrofitting autonomous driving systems onto existing vehicles.
At the same event, Chery also introduced CheryMind, a vertical foundation model for physical AI, and CHERY AWE, a world engine for autonomous driving. CheryMind is not mainly designed for chat or writing, but aims to help AI understand the physical world and participate in real-world decision-making and actions. Training data includes 700TB of enterprise knowledge, 200PB of engineering data, 25 million segments of coach-level driving data and 5 million segments of robot motion capture data.
CHERY AWE includes three models for scene understanding, semantic reasoning and behavior decision-making. The scene understanding model has built more than 700,000 scenarios, including 300,000 high-risk and 20,000 extreme scenarios.
Chery said it still needs to overcome regulatory, safety, cost and operational efficiency hurdles before moving from technical demonstrations to large-scale commercial deployment.
