Mach9 lands $34M Series A for AI-driven civil engineering CAD

By AI123

Mach9 announced on Oct. 21 that it has raised $34 million in Series A funding. First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners co-led the round, with participation from Prudence and Quiet Capital.

Founded as Mach9 Robotics in 2021, the startup initially built hardware for civil engineering visual inspections. Founder Alex Baikovitz said the experience showed him that data workflows, not capture devices, were the real bottleneck. The company subsequently dropped “Robotics” from its name and pivoted to AI-powered computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Mach9’s software turns reality-capture data from laser scanners and imaging systems into survey-grade geometry and drafts CAD plans that engineers can refine. According to Baikovitz, manual work in legacy software can take about a week per mile, while Mach9’s automation makes the process roughly 10 times faster and cuts costs significantly. The company develops and trains its own in-house AI models to achieve centimeter-level accuracy required for construction and infrastructure work.

The private beta has attracted nearly 100 customers and has been used on more than 2,500 projects. Mach9 plans to use the new capital to improve the product, hire industry experts, and scale the organization.
