Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong Visits Robotics Unit, Reviews CES 2027 Prep
Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong recently visited the company's Seoul R&D campus and inspected its Robotics Experience (RX) business division for the first time since the unit was established in July 2026, according to South Korean outlet Money Today.
The visit focused on the division's robotics development progress and preparations for technologies planned to be showcased at CES 2027, scheduled for January 2027 in Las Vegas, including humanoid robot arms and dexterous hands for precision manipulation.
The RX division was created to consolidate Samsung's previously scattered robotics R&D capabilities, with responsibility for mid-to-long-term business strategy, core technology development, and commercialization. The unit is led by Roh Tae-moon, head of the Device eXperience (DX) division, and reports directly to Samsung Electronics' CEO.
Samsung plans to deploy robots first in its own manufacturing plants to validate their performance and reliability, before expanding to home and retail applications. The company is also exploring robotics applications in semiconductor, smartphone, and home appliance manufacturing, and plans to expand robotics R&D investment in the United States, China, and Japan.
