By AI123

Insurance technology company Guidewire announced on October 27, 2026 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hyperexponential, an AI-powered underwriting company, for $1.7 billion in cash. The total deal value is approximately $2 billion, including up to $400 million in additional payments tied to the achievement of certain revenue targets. The transaction is expected to close in 2027.

Hyperexponential is a U.K.-based AI startup founded in 2017, backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Battery Ventures. According to PitchBook, the company has raised nearly $90 million to date. Hyperexponential says nearly 600 insurers across 40 countries use its software.

Guidewire said the acquisition is intended to bring AI agents to work alongside humans for underwriting, analysis, and pricing decisions. The deal also represents a significant return for Hyperexponential's early investors.
