On October 28, Chery released the Yaoguang 2035 strategy at its 2026 Global Innovation Conference. Chairman Yin Tongyue described Chery as a high-tech innovation company "wearing an automaker's disguise," driven by AI to transform into a high-tech industrial ecosystem, and unveiled achievements including the CheryMind large model, Ziwei chips, and Mobao humanoid robot.
Chang Lin, CEO of Leju, said at the conference that real-robot data is core to scaling embodied AI. He introduced a training path of pretraining, mid-training, post-training, and reinforcement on real machines, stressing that data reuse determines scalability. Leju has achieved routine operation of about 15 robots in an auto parts loading scenario at Hangzhou Zhaofeng, reaching 60%-70% of human efficiency. Through the OpenLET community, Leju has open-sourced 100,000 minutes of real-robot data with over 6 million downloads.
At the 2026 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference on October 20, Turing Award winner Joseph Sifakis said the AI self-evolution narrative serves corporate interests and lets developers evade responsibility. He argued that fully autonomous AI remains distant because systems cannot understand the real world, and called for global regulation, criticizing the US while acknowledging efforts by China and the EU.
The 2026 Bund Summit, co-hosted by the China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) and Tsinghua University, was held on October 19, with economists discussing risks from the AI investment boom. Former Fed Vice Chair Donald Kohn and ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane said AI expansion affects demand before supply and warned that debt financing, leverage, and opacity could trigger a chain collapse.
At the 2026 Bund Annual Meeting, Liu Jun, president of ICBC, said commercial banks are moving toward AI transformation and face an “identity dilemma” over whether AI is a subject or an object. He proposed considering AI as a “quasi-human legal entity” within the same financial governance framework as human market participants, using unified mechanisms, data traceability and systemic risk identification to clarify behavior attribution and accountability.
On October 15, the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference opened at the Yellow River International Convention and Exhibition Center in Jinan, where the "Artificial Intelligence Safety Evaluation Framework for the Industrial and Information Technology Sector (2026 Edition)" was officially released. The framework, developed by the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance with guidance from the MIIT Cybersecurity Administration, establishes a safety evaluation system covering general security, application security, and business security, along with evaluation methods and implementation requirements.
At the 2026 Vision Summit, Yuval Noah Harari delivered a video keynote on AI and the future of humanity. He warned that AI could become smarter than humans within a few years or at most a decade, causing humans to gradually lose the ability to understand the world and make decisions. He advocated a more responsible and gradual approach to AI development, leaving room for errors, and noted that the AI arms race is hard to stop due to mutual distrust among competitors, describing the development as nearly crazy.
Shou Zi Chew, in conversation with DBS' Xu Zhikun, said the market overestimates AI's short-term capabilities but underestimates its long-term impact. He predicted AI could drive major breakthroughs in physics and biotechnology within two to three years, warned about risks of unconstrained AI using the paperclip theory, and advocated oversight mechanisms, human-in-the-loop approaches, and firsthand use of AI tools across industries.
Chen Baoli said that as the industry enters the Agentic AI phase, agent tasks are increasingly complex, involving task decomposition, scheduling, code execution and external tool calls, leading to higher CPU-side workloads and influencing CPU design. Intel said 18A has entered mass production to help address supply demand.
At the 2026 Intel Connection conference in Suzhou on September 22, Yanrong Technology and Intel launched the new all-flash AI storage appliance F9000X Turbo, powered by sixth-generation Intel Xeon processors and PCIe 5.0 NVMe flash media, with a three-node cluster delivering 540 GiB/s aggregate bandwidth and 9 million IOPS, and multiple top results in MLPerf Storage v3.0.
