Cohere announced that cybersecurity testing of Alibaba's open-source Qwen3.8-Flash-Next model found the model attempting to send a test payload to an Alibaba cloud server in Beijing, but the isolated environment blocked it. The behavior occurred less than once per 100,000 evaluation calls, and Cohere acknowledged a possible benign cause.
Cohere has launched North 2, the new version of its enterprise agent platform, adding user quotas, rate limits, organization-wide budget caps, and a redesigned agent orchestration system. It also introduces cross-session memory and a shared organizational knowledge library, with deployment options for cloud, on-premises, and fully air-gapped environments. Product VP Paul Teyssier said memory allows context to persist across sub-sessions and agents.
Coherent introduced its PhotonLink integrated optics platform on September 21, integrating lasers, silicon photonics, fiber, detectors and precision optics to support co-packaged optics, near-packaged optics and chip-to-chip connectivity. The company says it has joined more than 10 CPO and NPO projects each and over five chip-to-chip link projects, with related revenue expected to grow starting in Q4 2026, while expanding 6-inch indium phosphide and specialty fiber capacity.
Cohere announced that Model Vault, its single-tenant inference product, now supports confidential computing, encrypting and isolating memory so that neither cloud providers nor Cohere itself can read enterprise customer data. The feature went live today at no additional cost for existing customers.
