TypeSafe AI, developer of the non-text AI model Jev, has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation, in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC. Since Jev's September 15 launch, the company says a third of Fortune 500 companies are already using the model.
In September 2026, TypeSafe founder Diogo Almeida discussed the company's first large programmable model Jev in an interview with tech podcaster swyx, introducing its "intelligence per dollar" metric, criticizing RLHF for causing mode collapse, and proposing RLCD as an alternative training direction. He argued that AI's biggest gap is reliability rather than capability, and said future software should break tasks into smaller, verifiable intelligent decisions.
TypeSafe, founded by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, launched Jev, a new AI system that answers preset questions inside software with confidence scores. It claims zero hallucinations, high speed, and low cost: Jev processes a billion input tokens for $42 with free output, and responds in 70-500ms, about 40-200x faster than existing LLMs.
