Yu Xuefeng's team at SIAT published results in Nature Machine Intelligence, releasing MatBrain, the first lightweight dual-model collaborative agent for materials science, composed of Mat-R1 and Mat-T1. It achieves 66% higher comprehensive prediction accuracy than GPT-5 and DeepSeek-R1, with 95% lower deployment cost. The team is integrating it with the embodied intelligent robot Dr. Mind and has released a trial version for public download.
