Zhongqing Robot launched "Engine Plan", an embodied intelligence ecosystem collaboration project that opens its humanoid robot SDK to global developers and partners, and promotes open-source co-building of foundation models, datasets and development toolchains across tools, models and data, aiming to lower development barriers and accelerate commercial deployment of humanoid robots.
San Francisco-based REK hosted what it called the world's first human-robot cage fight. Influencer Frankie Lapena fought three robots in succession; Zhongqing T800 sent him flying into the cage wall with a heavy kick, and the human fighter ultimately lost due to exhaustion.
Yao Qiyuan, co-founder of Zhongqing Robotics, said the company was founded in October 2023, completed a $200 million Series B round co-led by Luxshare Precision, and saw its valuation exceed 10 billion yuan. The firm adheres to a bipedal humanoid route, with products including SA01, PM01 and T800; the T800 has been deployed at Luxshare's factory for handling and loading tasks. He also discussed robot fighting as a technical testing ground, a brain-inspired five-layer architecture, and the company's open-source strategy.
At the REK robot combat event in San Francisco, Zhongqing Robotics' T800 humanoid robot, remotely operated through VR and motion controls, kicked down human boxer Frankie LaPenna to win the match. The 1.83m modified robot was built to collect collision data and improve balance, force control, and perception algorithms.
