At Hesai's technology conference in October 2026, co-founder and CEO Li Yifan said physical AI consists of application, model, and underlying hardware/computing/data layers, with the bottom layer weakest. Hesai is positioning itself as a physical AI infrastructure provider, focusing on robot motion engines and Kosmo spatial camera data, and noted five consecutive quarters of GAAP profitability, a 39.7% gross margin down 2.5 percentage points year over year, and a validation loop with founder-linked company Sharpa.
On October 14, Hesai Kosmo announced a partnership with Amap to open the first 1,000 pilot sites, covering premium malls, retail outlets, restaurants, hotels, and branded stores, scanning and reconstructing store interiors into high-precision 3D spatial models instead of traditional 2D floor plans.
On October 14, Hesai Technology released the world's first 8K ultra-high-definition AI spatial camera, the Kosmo One, featuring a 1-inch CMOS sensor and 360-degree coverage. It can reconstruct a 100m² space in 15 minutes and can be used for robot training data, among other applications. The company also released Kosmo World, an AI cloud platform for one-stop 3D content creation and management.
