Google's Gemini 'Call for Me' lets the AI call businesses for you

By AI123

Google is rolling out a new Gemini feature called "Call for Me" that lets the AI assistant call businesses on the user's behalf to check product availability, make restaurant reservations, reschedule appointments, or place items on hold.

The feature is initially available to Pixel 11 owners in the U.S. who pay for a Gemini subscription, and requires the beta version of Google's Phone app for Android. During the call, Gemini can introduce itself, navigate automated phone menus, wait on hold, and manage the conversation. The call is made from the user's own phone number, and users can watch a live transcript and take over the call at any time.

Google said the AI can share personal information approved by the user, enabling a broader set of actions. The launch builds on previous efforts such as "Ask for Me" in 2025, along with earlier features like "Hold for Me" and "Direct My Call." The company said it is starting the experiment at a small scale because real-world conversations are nuanced, and it wants to refine the feature before a wider release.
