Anthropic to File IPO in Coming Weeks as H1 Net Loss Hits $80.7B

By AI123

Anthropic is expected to publicly file its IPO documents in the coming weeks, according to a draft prospectus. The AI company posted a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of fiscal 2026, compared with a $13 billion loss in the same period a year earlier.

Most of the loss—about $72 billion—was attributed to accounting charges related to changes in the value of convertible notes and other instruments, the prospectus showed. As one of the leading AI developers, Anthropic plans to use the IPO proceeds to invest in chips, data centers and talent to build newer, more capable AI models.

In the six months ended June 30, 2026, Anthropic spent nearly $9 billion on computing and infrastructure, up from $2.3 billion in the same period of 2025. Its first-half spending on computing capacity has already surpassed the $7.3 billion it spent in all of 2025. The company also signaled it could spend up to $750 billion on computing power in the coming years.
