Google rolls out Beam 3D video conferencing technology to 20 USO sites

By AI123

Google has announced that its Beam 3D video conferencing technology, formerly known as Project Starline, is being deployed at 20 United Service Organizations (USO) locations worldwide, allowing active military members to communicate with their families.

The deployment follows a successful pilot program that connected a Beam system in Fort Bliss, Texas, to another in Poland. The technology combines six cameras, AI-assisted video models, and a specialized light display to project people as lifelike 3D holograms in real time. Head tracking and spatial audio further enhance the immersive experience.

Google did not disclose whether the USO program signals a broader rollout of the technology.
